Obituary of Thomas R. Welles
Please share a memory of Thomas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Thomas Robert Welles, 49, of the Hudson section of Plains Township, passed on August 16,2021.
Born in Wilkes-Barre on January 31, 1972, he was the son of Thomas C. Welles and Karen Danko-Yakabouski. He grew up in the Miners-Mills section of the city and attended city schools. He participated in the Plains Yankees football and the Plains Little League. He was a graduate of James M. Coughlin High School and West Side Tech, class of 1990, where Tom specialized in masonry.
After graduation, he worked in the trades and was employed by his Uncle Joe working for Frank Obitz Drywalling. After a short time, he worked for Giant Floor as an installer of their multiple floor products. Most recently, he was employed by General Dynamics of Plains.
Tom loved sports since he was a kid. He enjoyed playing football but was also a fan of college and the professionals. He enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and Notre Dame Football, but he was also a fan of the Philadelphia Phillies. When he had time, you could find him fishing or just listening to his wild variety of music from Barry Manilow to Motley Crue, he loved music and having a great time at concerts with family and friends.
Above all he loved his daughter Nicole, or Nikki for short. He recently reconnected with his daughter and he enjoyed every moment they spent together. Nicole, a short time later, passed unexpectedly. This broke Tom but he continued the best he could with the help of his family, and friends.
On this day, the passing of Tom leaves a family here brokenhearted for we lost a son, brother and uncle, but we know that Tom is happy because he will be with his daughter, Nikki forever. The love of a father knows no bounds, not even death can stop that love. May you find your peace together.
Thomas is preceded in death by his daughter Nicole, grandson Jaxon Booth, maternal grandparents Margaret and Joseph Danko, paternal grandparents Elizabeth and Robert Welles.
Surviving are his mother Karen, Parson; father Thomas, Plymouth; brother Shawn Welles, Plymouth; sisters Kimberly Young and her husband Kraig, Kingston; Tammy Maciolek and her husband J.R., Mountaintop; Tracy Fowler, Sugar Notch, Paula Barber, Edwardsville, Mary Kay Katchik, Larksville; girlfriend Donna Antonini, Hudson; granddaughter Gabriella Booth; nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews.
