Reamer Evans, "Junior", 80, of Wilkes-Barre, passed peacefully at his home on Friday, December 24, 2021.
Born in Wilkes-Barre on February 5, 1941, he was the son of the late Reamer and Alice Pennypacker Evans.
Junior was a life-long resident of the city of Wilkes-Barre and attended local schools, including G.A.R. High School.
In 1959, he enlisted in the United States Navy and was stationed in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
After returning home from his service, Junior married the former Joyce Savage in 1972. The couple resided in Miners-Mills where they raised their loving family.
A carpenter by trade, Junior worked in construction throughout the Wyoming Valley. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on vehicles and being the family handyman.
Junior loved football. He helped to coach the Northeast Junior Crusaders Football Team in the late 1970s and early 1980s. He was also a proud Pittsburgh Steelers Fan.
Junior had a deep faith in God and was a proud member of the Salvation Army of Wilkes-Barre.
Junior was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 47 years, Joyce; sisters Marie Whitt and Carol Krushinsky.
Surviving are daughters Tracy Szymanski and husband Anthony; Gail Baron and husband Mark; Tammy Lutecki; grandchildren Michael Szymanski, Christian Sholtis, Tyler Sholtis, Andrew Baron, Aubrey Baron, Jody Dymond and Cody Dymond; sisters Bernice Foreit, Bea Connell, Sharon Simpson, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service for Junior will be held on Friday, December 31, at 11:00 a.m. at the Yanaitis Funeral Home Inc, 55 Stark Street, Plains. Service will be led by Major Bea Connell of the Salvation Army. Interment will follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Park, Dallas.
Friends and family may call at the funeral home on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral service.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to The Salvation Army, 17 S. Pennsylvania Ave, Wilkes-Barre, Pa, 18701.
