Obituary of Josephine Joan Falkowski

Josephine J. Falkowski, 89, of Plains Twp., passed peacefully on Friday, February 27,2015, at the Riverstreet Manor Nursing Facility, Wilkes-Barre. Born in Wilkes-Barre, February 17, 1926, she was a daughter to the late Joseph and Nellie Pachuchi Yansheck. Growing up in the Plains area, she was a graduate of the Plains Memorial High School, class of 1944. She married Thaddeus Falkowski in 1944 and started their family. Together they raised two daughters, Barbara and Patricia. Josephine worked in the local garment industry as a seamstress at Gorts Dress Factory, a waitress at Franklin's and Aldino's Restaurants, and later retired from Luzerne Products, Plains. She loved to play the lottery and bingo. She enjoying the music of Tony Bennett and loved her QVC. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Thaddeus, and sister Florence Yansheck. Surviving are her daughters Barbara Falkowski, with whom Josephine resided, Plains; Patricia Cardimona and her husband Joseph, Plains; and her faithful companion Sherlock. The Family would like to thank the staff at the Riverstreet Manor for their exceptional care that Josephine received, especially from Selena and "Tish". Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at 9:30 am from the Yanaitis Funeral Home Inc., 55 Stark Street, Plains. The family asks that friends go directly to the church for 10:00 am at Ss. Peter and Paul Church, 13 Hudson Road. Interment will be held in St. Joseph Cemetery, Plains. Friends and family may call at the funeral home on Monday evening from 4:00pm to 7:00pm.
