Obituary of Jean T. Yagiello

Jean Theresa Yagiello, 79 of Bear Creek, passed peacefully at her home on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, in the company of her loving daughter and her family. Born in Wilkes Barre on April 11, 1943, she was a daughter of Anna Dinan Kohol. Jean was raised in the Parson section of the city and attended Calvin Elementary School, and James M. Coughlin High School. Jean was employed by Carter Footwear for 10 years working on the factory line when she met and fell in love with Walter C. Yagiello. A short time later the happy couple was married and settled in Bear Creek Township. Jean left Carter Footwear to be a loving mother and to care for the couple's daughter Lisa. Throughout her life, Jean loved sewing, putting puzzles together, baking, and watching all the beautiful birds just outside her window. Her greatest accomplishment was being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and we will miss her dearly. Jean joins in heaven her loving mother Anna, her husband Walter C. ; brother Charles Kohol; sisters Ann Rush, Mercedes Andoe and Marie Kutza. Surviving to mourn her passing are her daughter Lisa and husband David Mattei, Bear Creek Twp.; grandchildren Megan Peck; Taylor Mattei, Nathan Mattei, Davey and Alisha Mattei, all of Bear Creek Twp., and sister Geraldine Behm, Mountaintop. Friends and family are invited to attend Jean's Rite of Committal Service to be held on Friday, February 24, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. in the Main Chapel at St. Mary's Cemetery, 1594 South Main St., Hanover Twp. In Lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations in Jean's memory can be given to the Evlyns' Exotic BIRD Rescue & Adoptions, 214 Sweitzer Ln , Plymouth, PA, 18651. Arrangements are under the care of the Yanaitis Funeral Home Inc., Plains Twp.
