Rose Marilyn Whitt-Cupil, of Wilkes-Barre, with a tear in her eye, was taken home by the hand of her Lord and Savior on July 3, 2023, from her private residence. Born in Wilkes-Barre on July 5,1948, Rose was a daughter of the late Jake and Geraldine Whitt. Rose was raised in Wilkes-Barre and received her education at the Doron Grade School and graduated from G.A.R. High School, class of 1966. Rose was raised in the faith and accepted Christ at an early age and was a former member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, in her latter years she attended Moving River Ministries. Rose served four years in the United States Navy and was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia, for the term of her service. After being honorably discharged in 1970, She was married to Ronald Cupil. Thereafter, she began a thirty year career working for the Department of Veteran Affairs working as a Medical Support Assistant. Rose also worked part time at the Great Chamber of Commerce in the housekeeping department. Rose was the glue of the Whitt Family; she was also the center for her family. Rose was an amazing cook, and was always near her siblings, children or grandchildren. Rose enjoyed a healthy lifestyle and enjoyed long walks, music, and going to flea markets looking for some of her favorite items to collect: dolls, jewelry, and lamps. She enjoyed a laugh and was quick witted to keep you on your toes. Rose was a strong minded person physically and spiritually and this day we rejoice for she is now a gift to heaven. Rose is now joined in heaven with her loving parents Jake and Geraldine Whitt; brothers Jacob "Buddy", Gary, Daryle, Ronald, William “Billy” and Stephen and sisters Jacqueline, Doris, and grandchild Camden. Rose leaves to cherish her loving memory of her son Ronald Cupil, Scranton; daughter Teressa Cupil, Forty-Fort; son Alexander Hairston and his wife Deanna, Wilkes-Barre; grandchildren Sean Cupil and his wife Amanda; Corianna Cupil; Beryx and Royce Hairston; Maddox Palmer; great grandchildren Savion, Jayden and Trenton Cupil; Kareem Muhammed, Corey and Millianna DeLoatch and step grandchildren Nicholas and Dominique.
