Obituary of Margaret Lorraine Schmidt

Margaret "Marge" Dombroski Schmidt of Newberry Estates , Dallas, and Daytona Beach, Florida, passed into eternal life on July 6, 2015, while in the care of the Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Dallas.
Marge was born in Plains Township, on April 13, 1934, and was a daughter of the late John and Josephine Gayewski Dombroski. She attended Ss. Peter and Paul grade school, and was a graduate of Plains Memorial High School, class of 1951, and Wyoming Seminary School of Business.
She joined the Second National Bank of Wilkes-Barre which became, after several consolidations the First Eastern Bank, presently PNC Bank. Marge spent thirty nine years in banking and progressed into each phase of the banking business structure. In 1990, she retired as Assistant Vice President and Bank Manager at the Main Office in Wilkes-Barre.
At the age of 14, Margaret met her future husband Roland C. Schmidt, at a school dance and they have been together since. On January 7, 1956, they were married. This year celebrated fifty-nine years of marriage. Roland passed early this year on May 28, 2015.
Marge will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, sister, aunt, and friend. She was also a mother to her husband Roland's football players from Wilkes University. She referred to the football teams from 1963 to 1981 as her "boys" and she loved spending time with each of them.
Later in life, she enjoyed playing golf, and was a regular participant in Ladies Golf Leagues at Newberry Estates and the Pelican Bay Country Club, Daytona, Florida. At the country club every Friday night you could find Marge and Roland dancing the night away. She enjoyed decorating, cooking, and baking. She appreciated all of God's gifts in nature. She will be remembered for her kind and caring ways. She was a joy to be around.
In addition to her husband, Margaret is preceded in death by her sister Elizabeth Preby.
Marge is survived by her brother John J Dombroski, New Jersey; sisters Florence Dombroski, Irene Rupert , Wilkes-Barre; and Marie Brace, Noxen; many nieces; nephews ;grandnieces and grandnephews.
Family and friends may call at the Yanaitis Funeral Home Inc., 55 Stark Street, Plains, on Wednesday evening from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Everyone is invited to gather at a Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Thursday, at 9:30am in Ss. Peter & Paul Church, Plains. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, Marge requested that memorial donations please be given to The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, 34th St and Civic Center Blvd., Philadelphia, PA 19104.
