Obituary of Walter Edward Serafin

Walter Edward Serafin, 78, of Wilkes-Barre, passed on Tuesday, April 21, 2015, while in the care of the Hampton House, Hanover Twp. Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son to the late Walter and Mary Seasock Serafin. He attended local school and James M. Coughlin High School. Throughout Walter's life he held various jobs, none more enjoyable then being a school crossing guard for forty years in the East End Section of Wilkes-Barre. Walter enjoyed walking and talking to everyone he encountered throughout the city. He was truly a friendly soul and would leave a smile on everyone's face who encountered him. Walter was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Church, Plains Twp. He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters Lottie Luckenbach,Jean Kubicki; and a brother Joseph. Surviving Walter are his sister Gloria Mazeika and her husband James, Mt. Top; brother John, Edwardsville; and several nieces and nephews. Walter's funeral will be held on Saturday, April 25,2015, at 9:00 from the Yanaitis Funeral Home Inc., 55 Stark Street, Plains. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 am in SS. Peter and Paul Church, Plains; Interment will be held in the parish cemetery, Plains. Calling hours are at the funeral home on Friday evening from 4:00pm to 7:00pm.
