Obituary of Bernadine Josephine Wasmanski

Bernadine " Bernie" Josephine Wasmanski, 85, of Plains Township, passed on Thursday, October 9, 2014, at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born in the Hudson section of Plains Township, she was daughter to the late Walter and Josephine Railer Antosh. Bernie grew up in the Plains area and was a graduate of the Plains Memorial High School, class of 1947. After graduation, Bernie started working in the local dress factories throughout the area as a seamstress. After forty years of working, Bernie retired.
Bernie was a member of the I.L.G.W.U. and a past member of St. Joseph Church, Hudson, until the church closure. Bernie participated in many church activities especially helping at summer bazaars. She was a current member of Ss. Peter and Paul Church, Plains.
During her retirement, Bernie volunteered her time at a local daycare for children as a foster grandparent. She also was the primary caregiver to her brother Francis.
Bernadine enjoyed traveling. Whether it was to a local destinations like a casino or to far away destinations like the Bahamas. She especially loved the Polka weekends trips where she could dance to a variety of Polkas with her friends.
She is preceded in death by her brother Walter Antosh.
Bernie is survived by her daughter Gloria Ray and her husband Jerry, Plains, and her brother Francis, Plains.
Bernadine's funeral will be held privately at the convenience of her family. Arrangements by the Yanaitis Funeral Home Inc., Plains.
