Obituary of Mary J. Seasock

Mary Jane Seasock, 86, of Plains, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 20, 2016, while in the care of the Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore.
Born in Plains on February 23, 1930, she was a daughter to the late Lewis and Helen Tomko Sitar. She attended Plains area schools and was a graduate of the Plains Memorial High School,class of 1948.
Upon graduation, she began work as a seamstress at the Plains Blouse Factory and held employment there until her retirement.
She later worked for the Woodlands Inn and Resort in the catering and banquet facility.
Mary was a hard worker all her life. She was a simple lady who loved her family.She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They would brighten up Mary's day and her life.
She was a member of the I.L.G.W.U and a life long member of the former St. Dominic's church and a present member of the St. Benedict's Parish Community, Parsons.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Leonard Seacock; daughter Deborah Pokrifka; son in law Richard Pokrifka; sister Bernadine Milby; and brother Lewis Sitar.
Surviving are her son Scott Seasock and his wife Valerie; grandsons: Alexander, Matthew, and Daniel Seasock; Richard Pokrifka and his wife Katie; granddaughter Kimberly Byczek and her husband Ian; great grandchildren: Adam, Nicholas, Sam, and Benjamin Pokrifka, and Isiah Byczek; sisters Dorothy Stortz and husband Phil; Patricia Marsit and husband Carmen; and brother Edward Sitar and his wife Noreen.
Funeral Service for Mary will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at 9:30 am from the Yanaitis Funeral Home Inc. Plains. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am in St. Benedict's Parish, Austin Ave. Parsons. Mass will be celebrated by Rev. Joseph Kearney, pastor. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Plains. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
The Seasock family would like to thank Doctor Frank Olshemski, the Hospice of the Sacred Heart and the East Mountain Golden Living Center for taking exceptional care of Mary during her time of need.
