Obituary of Anna Mae Balasenowich

Anna Mae Balasenowich, 79, from Hudson, Wilkes-Barre, died peacefully Wednesday October 9, 2013 in Calvary Hospital, Bronx, New York.
Born in the Hudson section of Plains Township, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and the late Helen Pavelchak Hornick.
Anna Mae resided in Hudson until her marriage to Eugen Balasenowich on July 30th, 1960. They resided in the Bronx, New York until their retirement in 1989 which brought them back to Hudson.
Anna Mae was a member of Holy Resurrection Russian Orthodox Church in Wilkes-Barre.
Anna Mae is survived by her husband, Eugen, daughter Anna Koutros, Son-in-law Jimmy, son Eugene Balasenowich and Daughter-in-law Tanya. Anna Mae has two grandchildren Tatiana Eugenia Balasenowich and Michael Dimitri Koutros. Anna Mae also has two God-Daughters, Eva Marie Hughes and Andrea Guzik. Evelyn Guzik, sister, pre-deceased in July 1995; surviving brothers, Andrew Hornick, of Plains and John Hornick of Wilkes-Barre and several cousins, nieces and one nephew.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday October 14, 2013 from the Yanaitis Funeral Home, 55 Stark St., Plains Township, with a requiem service at 10:00 am in Holy Resurrection Russian Orthodox Church.
Interment will be in the parish cemetery, Holy Resurrection Russian Orthodox Cemetery, Plains Township.
Friends and family may call from 5- 9 p.m. Sunday October 13, 2013 at the Yanaitis Funeral Home Inc., Plains.
Parastas services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Sunday October 13, 2013 with the V. Rev. Joseph Martin, pastor of Holy Resurrection Russian Orthodox Church, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, Anna Mae would prefer donations to the Holy Resurrection Russian Orthodox Church, 591 North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre 18705 or the Humane Society.
