Obituary of Angelo Frank Stella

Please share a memory of Angelo to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On June 1, 2014, the Lord sent his angels to carry the soul of his servant Angelo Frank "Bomer" Stella, 90, from this earth to his heavenly place of eternal and everlasting life. Angelo passed surrounded by his loving family in the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born on June 14, 1923, in the Keystone section of Plains, he was a son to the late Anthony and Gulia Angeli Stella. Angelo at a young age learned the lesson of hard work and family responsibility. Angelo was a proud veteran and his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy as an apprentice seaman. Angelo returned home to take up his family responsibilities and went to work in the mines as a coal miner. On July 1, 1944, he married the love of his life, the former Genevieve Trentowski. This year, they would have celebrated their seventieth anniversary. Together they raised two daughters Sandra and Pat. Angelo, as a young man, worked in the local mines for twenty one years until the Knox mine disaster forced the closure of the mining industry in the Wyoming Valley. Angelo then found employment with the Pagnotti Enterprises Inc. as a crane operator until his retirement. After a few years, Angelo returned to the working force at Sears department store in the Wyoming Valley Mall. He finally retired from working at the age of seventy - seven to enjoy his grandfather's role of helping to raise his great grandchildren. Angelo throughout his life was an avid sportsman. While on an Alaskan big game hunting trip with his grandson Ron Solt, Angelo shot a caribou. While hunting deer on A.J. Foyt's Ranch, he enjoyed the hunt but, his best memory was of cooking breakfast for everyone. On another expedition to Ontario, Canada, Angelo shot a black bear. Angelo loved to go fishing with his grandchildren. He would make trips up to Canada to catch Northern Pike and to Indiana for Bass. Angelo enjoyed hunting small game, such as quail and pheasant on trips to Indiana. He and his grandson Ron Solt , and his son-in-law- Dave would love to go on their quads up the Lehigh River to their favorite hunting and fishing spots. Most of all his greatest hobby was taking pleasure in watching his grandchildren and his great grandchildren excel. Angelo took pride in watching his grandson Ron Solt play professional football for the Eagles and Colts, and also watching his great grandson Cade's Little League Baseball games. He was a proud grandfather. Angelo throughout his entire life, enjoyed planting his garden with many tomato plants. He also enjoyed making wine with Dr. Nicholas Giordano. Over the many years they perfected their wine. For the past few years together they took multiple blue ribbons in several New York wine tasting events. He was a member of the Ss. Peter and Paul Church, Plains; the Polish American Veterans, Plains; and the Perugia Club, Keystone. Angelo is preceded in death by his parents; sisters Mary Mancia; Jennie " Piccina" Million; Brothers Primo; August "Litzi"; Fernando "Fia", and an infant brother Dominic. Angelo is survived by his loving wife Genevieve and daughter Pat Stella, at home: and Pat's companion Danny Branas, Miners-mills; daughter Sandra Sitoski and her husband Dave, Laflin; sister Irene Zluchowski, Wilkes-Barre Twp.; brother Dominic "Netzer", Keystone; grandchildren Ron Solt; Kevin Solt and his wife Mary; Kimberly Suda and her husband Don; Yvonne Cocoran and her husband Mike; Heidi Gowden and her husband Sean; great grandchildren Tayler, Matthew, Ryan, Kennady, Jennifer, Kevin Jr., Kyle, Halle, Cade, Mya, Giada, and Evangeline.
