Obituary of Harry Peter Vanchure

Harry Peter Vanchure, age 69, passed away on Saturday, April 19,2014, with his family by his side, at his home in Parsons, PA.
He was born December 26, 1944, in Wilkes-Barre, Pa, the son of the late Angelo Vanchure Sr. and Harriett ( Miller) Vanchure.
Harry graduated from James M. Coughlin, Class of 1963. Following graduation, he enlisted with the United States Marine Corps and served three tours during the Vietnam War. He dedicated his young life to the service of the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged after twenty-one years with attaining the rank of master sergeant.
Shortly before shipping overseas, he married his high school sweetheart, Evelyn Mary Jones. After completing his tour of service, with Evelyn by his side, they settled together for the rest of their lives in the Parsons section of Wilkes-Barre. This past March, they celebrated forty-nine years of marriage.
Prior to retiring from the service, Harry was employed by Frontier Communications as a telecommunication supervisor.
Harry was an avid fisherman, loved to cook, and spend time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers Albert, Ronald, and Donald.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Evelyn Vanchure, at home; son Harry Vanchure Jr., Parsons; daughter Tracy Gurdock Mack and her husband Darwin, Parsons; four grandchildren: Joshua Gurdock, Emilie Gurdock, Zachery Vanchure, and Alivia Vanchure; brothers Angelo Vanchure, New Jersey; Richard Vanchure and wife Maurce, Bear Creek; Michael Vanchure and his wife, Ilona, Mountaintop; sister Charlene Vanchure Everett, and her husband William, Parsons; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving relatives and many friends.
A service of remembrance will be held at the Yanaitis Funeral Home Inc, 55 Stark Street, Plains, this Thursday, April 24,2014 from 5:00 pm to 8:00pm.
Friends and family are asked to gather on Friday, April 25, 2014, at 10:00AM in St. Benedict's Church, Austin Avenue, Parsons, to celebrate Harry's Mass of Christian Burial. Mass will be celebrated by Rev. Joseph Kearney, pastor. Military honors will be provided by the United States Marine Corps. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
