Obituary of Chester Thomas Stanski

Chester Thomas Stanski, 81, of Plains Twp, passed away peacefully, on May 27,2016, while in the care of the River Street Manor, Wilkes-Barre. Born on July 23, 1934 in Plains, he was a son to the late Frank and Margaret Hedwig Kowatz Stanski. Chester attended local schools and was a graduate of the Plains Memorial High School, class of 1952. In 1953, Chester joined the United States Navy and served during the Korean War. He rose to the rank of engine man (diesel) petty officer 3rd class. By the time his reserve service ended in 1961. After returning home, Chester married the former Marie Stackowski, on June 7, 1958. Together they moved to Plainfield, New Jersey for a four years and then returned to Plains where Chester was employed in the local garment industry. Chester, later in life, held worked in InterMetro, Wilkes-Barre, and Diamond Manufacturing,Wyoming. Chester enjoyed spending time in his garden; fishing; hunting; watching his Phillies play baseball; and spending time as a member of the Plains Lions Club serving his town. Chester is preceded in death by his brother Thomas and grandson D.J. Surviving are his wife of fifty-seven years of marriage, Marie, at home; daughters Linda Farrar and husband Douglas;North Wales, PA;Jane Norton and husband Thomas; Scott Twp; Laura St. Clair and husband Andrew, Plains Twp.; grandchildren: Nicole, Stephanie; Holly; Katelyn, Brian, Andrew, and Luke;great grandson Nicholas; sister Janet Soller and husband Michael, New Jersey ; brothers Frank and his wife Betty, New Jersey; Leonard, Plains; and Charles and his wife Sharon, Plains and sister in law Karen. In keeping with Chester’s wishes there will be no public services. Arrangement by the Yanaitis Funeral Home Inc., Plains Township.
