Obituary of Lena B. Scavone

Lena B. Scavone, 90. a resident of Hudson section of Plains Township, passed away Tuesday morning at her residence with her children at her bedside. She was born in Hudson, October 8, 1925,. a daughter to the late Jerome and Bridget Vitale Chiocca. She was a graduate of the Plains Memorial High School and College Misericordia. Lena was employed by the Social Security Administration and was the treasurer of J.S. Sporting Goods, of Wilkes-Barre for many years, she was a long time member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish at St. Mary's Church of the Immaculate Conception, S. Washington Street, Wilkes-Barre. She had been preceded in death by her husband Vincent P. Scavone Sr. in 1977 and by a son, Vincent Scavone in 2014; a brother, Herman Chiocca and sister, Matilda Kubicki. Surviving are her sons; Mark Scavone an his wife Rose, Exeter; Jerome Scavone and his wife Susan, Orlando FL; Ronald Scavone and his wife Karen, Sweet Valley Peter Scavone and his wife Patricia, Wilkes-Barre; Paul Scavone and his wife Kathy, Sweet Valley; Christopher Scavone and his wife Janice, Laurel Run Daughters; Elaine Pauliashak and her husband George, Scott Township Bernadette Scavone, Hudson; Theresa Gamino and her husband Alfonso, Texas; and 19 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren Funeral Services will be held Friday at 9 am from the Yanaitis Funeral Home, 55 stark Street, Hudson, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in Our Lady of Fatima Parish at St. Mary's Church of the Immaculate Conception, S. Washington Street, Wilkes-Barre with the Rev. J. Duane Gavitt as celebrant. Interment will be in St.Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call from 5 to 8 pm Thursday at the Funeral Home.
