Obituary of Stanley Andrew Runscavage

Stanley (Sie) Runscavage, 85, passed away peacefully at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Monday, January 9, 2017, with his daughter Joyce and her husband Jeff by his side. He was born in Bear Creek on August 7,1931, and was the son of Stanley and Catherine Yale Runscavage. He was a graduate of James M. Coughlin High School, class of 1949. From the time he was 14 years old, he was employed by Crawford Door Company, now known as All Door Sales, installing garage doors. Stanley retired at the age of 62. Stanley took great joy in working with his hands building and fixing things. His biggest accomplishment was building his own home on Bald Mountain where he lived for the past 56 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, fishing, hunting, and being outdoors; most recently just sitting on his back porch. Stanley was preceded in death by his parents; wife Theresa; daughter Carol: brother Thomas, and sister Leona. He is survived by his daughter Joyce Pace , and her husband Jeff , Dallas; son –in –law Stanley Benczkowski, Bear Creek; sister Ruth Yekel and her husband Harry, Swoyersville; sister Mary Sott, Wilkes-Barre; grandchildren Jeffrey Pace and his wife Rebecca, Portland, OR; Stephanie White and her husband Adam, Boston, MA: Kaitlyn, Jessica, and Rachel Benczkowski; Bear Creek; nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Stanley will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2017, at 9:30 am from the Yanaitis Funeral Home Inc., 55 Stark Street, Plains. Funeral Liturgy will be held at St. Mary’s Byzantine Assumption Church,695 North Main St., Wilkes-Barre, at 10:00 am with Rev. Michael Kerestes, officiant. Interment will be held in the parish cemetery, Dallas. Family and friends may call on Friday at the funeral home from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Parastas service will be held at 6:30 pm. Memorial donations may be given to St. Mary’s Byzantine Church, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
