Obituary of Stanley Edward Kalinowski

Stanley Edward Kalinowski, 77, of Plains Township, passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2013 surrounded by his loving family at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Stanley was born in Plains on May 5, 1935, the youngest child of the late Stanley and Frances Skovronski Kalinowski. His wife of 55 years is the former Irene Balut. Stanley was educated in Plains Township Schools, attending Sacred Heart High School. Stanley served in the Army during peacetime. Upon completion of his military service Stanley worked with his brother Joseph in the family produce business known as the Three Way Market, Miners Mills. After the business closed, Stanley worked for Glen Market, Moosic; Sunshine Markets, Plains; and the Price Chopper, Wyoming. Stanley was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Church, Plains. He enjoyed watching old westerns, hunting, polka music and playing the lottery and other games of chance. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Richard, infant grandson, George Michael Henry, brothers John, Joseph and Edward; sisters Jennie Spak and Josephine Kalemba. Surviving, in addition to his wife are daughters Debbie Henry and husband Michael; Darlene Hvozdovic and husband Joseph; son David and wife Rose,all of Mountaintop; grandchildren Lindsey and Michael Henry, Nicole Hvozdovic and Lauren Kalinowski; numerous nieces and nephews. Stanley's family wanted to thank a special niece, Carol Frankovich, for her care and support. In keeping with Stanley's wishes, the funeral will be a private service held at the convenience of his family.
