Obituary of Jean Regina Waznik

Regina" Kowalski Waznik, 82, of Wilkes-Barre, died Tuesday
morning at home.
Born in Wilkes-Barre in 1930, she was the daughter of Stanley and
Helen Chaplinski Kowalski. She was a graduate of James M. Coughlin,
Class of 1948, and Wilkes-Business College.
Jean moved to New York City, following her marriage to Walter Waznik,
her loving husband of fifty-two years. While in New York City, she was
employed as a secretary prior to raising her children. Jean and her
family returned to Wilkes-Barre, where she was later employed by
Schott Optical, and the Internal Revenue Service. She was a member Ss.
Peter and Paul Church, Plains. She will be remembered as a loving and
caring mother, grandmother, wife, sister, and friend. She will be
missed by all. Preceding Jean in death was her husband Walter, 2004;
brothers Edward, Joseph, an infant brother Chester Zawadski; sisters
Lillian Smigielski and Stella Susek.
Jean is survived by daughters Kathryn Waznik; Ellen and her husband
Frank Coughlin Jr.; son Paul Waznik and his wife Tamera; grandchildren
Kevin, Francis, William and Alice Coughlin; Eileen and Gregory
Waznik; brother Theodore Kowalski and wife Maureen; brother-in-law
Edward Waznik and his wife Joan; several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Friends may call on Friday, February 15, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at
the Yanaitis Funeral Home Inc., 55 Stark Street, Plains. On Saturday,
family and friends are asked to go directly to Ss. Peter and Paul
Church, 13 Hudson Road, Plains, where Jean will have a Mass of
Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. Joseph Greskiewicz at 8:30am.
Interment will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville,
Pa.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested to be given to
