Obituary of Thomas John Sak

Thomas John Sak, 64, of the Hudson section of Plains Township, died
Sunday, February 10, 2013, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Born in the Georgetown section of Wilkes-Barre Township, on January
26, 1949, he was the son of Thomas and Josephine Atcavage Sak.
Thomas attended local schools in Wilkes-Barre Township and was a
graduate of the Wilkes-Barre Township High School, Class of 1967.
After graduation, Thomas joined the Air Force and served during the
Vietnam War, as a mechanic. During this time, he attained the rank of
Sergeant. After being honorable discharged, he returned home to marry his love, the former
Mary C. Bracaloni on May 31, 1971. Together they celebrated forty-one
years of marriage. Throughout these years, Thomas was employed by
Georgia Pacific, as a warehouse foreman, until the plants closure. He was
then employed by Quaker Oats and Pepsi Bottling Company until his
retirement.
Thomas loved to garden, and spend time outside in his yard. He was a
member of the Veterans of Foreign War, Post 283, Kingston, and Ss.
Peter and Paul Church, Plains. Thomas is preceded in death by his
loving parents Thomas, 1985, and Josephine,2013.
Thomas is survived by his loving wife Mary, at home; son Thomas and
his wife Maria, Plains; daughter Mary Hockenberry and her husband,
Peter; Plains; grandsons Charles Callahan, Plains; Anthony and
Dominick Sak, Plains; sisters Eileen Olszyk and her husband Paul,
Wilkes-Barre Township; Dolores McCrea, Plains; and several nephews.
Thomas's funeral will be held Friday, February 15, 2013, at 9:00 am
from the Yanaitis Funeral Home Inc., 55 Stark Street, Plains. A Mass
of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30am in Ss. Peter and Paul
Church, Plains. Interment, with military honors, will follow in the
parish cemetery, Plains. Friends may call at the funeral home on
