Obituary of Sophia D. Juzwicki

Sophie (Sophia) D. Juzwicki, of Kingston, died Tuesday, January 8, 2013, in St. Luke's Villa, Wilkes-Barre, after an illness. Born in the Miner-Mills section of Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter to the late Alexander and Stella Ruszewski Juzwicki. She was educated at Ss. Peter and Paul School, Plains, and was a graduate of James M. Coughlin High School, Class of 1942. After graduation she moved to New York City and was employed by McGraw-Hill Publishing Company, in the mail room. Sophie also worked for the US Postal Service. After retirement, Sophie resided in Florida for a short time until she returned to the Wyoming Valley. Sophie was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Church, Plains. Sophie enjoyed traveling and taking excursions to New York City. She is preceded in death by brothers Peter, Joseph, and John; and sisters Marion Wysocki and Eleanor Konopko. Sophie is survived by nephew John Wysocki, New Jersey; nieces Geraldine Tilton, New Jersey; Mary Earley, New York; Antoinette Clark, New Jersey; numerous great and grand nieces and nephews; and friends Karen and Frank Nallon, Kingston. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 12, 2013, from the Yanaitis Funeral Home Inc., 55 Stark Street, Plains, at 10:00am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am in Ss. Peter and Paul Church, Plains. Interment will be held in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Wilkes-Barre. Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday morning from 9:00am till time of service.
