Obituary of Mary Ann Phillips

Mary Ann Phillips of Plains Township, peacefully passed away
Wednesday, October 31, 2012.
Born in Hudson, May 30, 1931, she was the daughter of the late
William and Jennie Kreger Przystrzelski. She had first worked at
Central Slipper Shoe Company and for many years as a nurse's aide and
caregiver at Valley Crest Nursing Home, until her retirement. She was
a member of the former St. Joseph Church, Hudson and currently a
member of Ss. Peter and Paul Church, Plains. Mary Ann had volunteered
for many years and participated in church fund raisers and activities.
She especially loved to cook, quilt and crochet. Mary Ann and her
husband George had celebrated their sixty-first wedding anniversary on
May 28, 2012. She was preceded in death by brothers Peter and Stanley.
In addition to her husband George, Mary Ann is survived by a
daughter Barbara Hoover and her husband Francis, Trucksville; son
Bruce Phillips and his wife Judy, Plains; grandchildren Francis, Adam
and his wife Jenn, Mike and his wife Alison, Kristen, Hilary, Matthew
and great-grandchildren Joshua, David, Jacob, Brayden, Sophie; by a
sister Florianne Albert and her husband James, Wilkes-Barre; along
with several nieces and nephews.
Mary Ann's funeral will be conducted on Saturday at 10:00 a.m.
from the Mark V. Yanaitis Funeral Home, 55 Stark Street, Plains, with
a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Ss. Peter and Paul Church,
Plains. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery, Courtdale. Friends may
call on Saturday morning from 8:00 a.m. to time of services. In lieu
of flowers, donations may be given to St. Vincent DePaul Soup Kitchen,
39 East Jackson Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701. Condolences may be
