Obituary of Marie Stanski
Marie Christine Stanski, 80, formerly of Plains Twp., passed peacefully on Sunday, November 18, 2018, while in the care of the United Methodist Homes-Wesley Village, Pittston.
Marie was born on December 25, 1937, in Wilkes-Barre to her loving parents the late Bernard and Helen Szortyka Stackowski. She grew up in the Wilkes-Barre area and graduated from Plains Memorial High School class of 1955.
After returning home from his service to his country, Marie married Chester Stanski, on June 7, 1958. Together they moved to Plainfield, New Jersey for four years and then returned to Plains where Marie was employed in the local garment industry as a seamstress for twenty years. During this time Chester and Marie raised three daughters: Linda, Jane, and Laura.
Marie enjoyed spending time sewing and making dresses for her daughters; canning; going to the casino, and playing bingo at the local churches.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband of fifty seven years, Chester; sisters Louise Homza and Michalene Latsko; granddaughter Holly and grandson D.J.
Surviving are daughters Linda Farrar and husband Douglas, North Wales; Jane Norton and husband Thomas, Scott Twp.; Laura St. Clair and husband Andrew, Plains Twp.; grandchildren: Nicole, Stephanie, Katelyn, Brian, Andrew, and Luke; great grandson Nicholas; sister Helen Zurawski, Mountaintop; and brother Bernard Stackowski, Simpsonville, SC.
In keeping with Marie’s wishes, there will be no public services at this time. A private memorial service and burial for Marie and her beloved husband Chester will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
