Obituary of Joseph John Marzzucca

Joseph John Marzzucca, 91, of Plains Township, passed away on Saturday, May 14,2016, peacefully at home, in the comfort of his bed, surrounded by his loving family. Joe was born on August 24, 1924, in Brooklyn, New York. He was a son to the late Vincenzo and Lena Vitelli Marzzucca. Joe grew up in Brooklyn and attending local school. He became a shipping clerk for the Rosette Hat Factory of New York . Joe was employed for thirty years with Rosette until an unfortunate accident caused his to become disabled. Joe will be remember for his great sense of humor and comedic wit. He enjoyed watching sports and supporting his teams: the New York Mets and the Buffalo Bills. Joe enjoyed playing a game of cards or tossing a bocce ball on the court.He enjoyed traveling whether it was on a cruise ship or driving the open road to visit family. He also could be spotted walking his cat around the neighborhood. Joe was a former member of St. Francis Church, Miners- Mills, until the church’s closure, and a current member of Ss. Peter and Paul Church, Plains. Joe was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Gloria Inacone Marzzucca; and his brother Salvatore. Surviving at home is his loving wife Mary Pat Curry Marzzucca, Plains; sister Vincenza Mascia, Queens, NY; twenty six nieces and nephews; and numerous great nieces and nephews. Joseph’s funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at 9:30 am from the Yanaitis Funeral Home inc., 55 Stark Street, Plains. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Ss. Peter and Paul Church at 10:00 am with Rev. Jack Lambert, celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Plains. Friends and family may call on Tuesday, May 17, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
